Sailor rescued after catamaran capsizes off Mearns coast
ByGraham Brown
Lifeboat and coastguard crews were involved in a weekend catamaran capsize drama off the Mearns coast.
The incident happened around 6.30pm on Saturday when a radio call for help was made to the coastguard control centre in Aberdeen.
The emergency call was made from a passing vessel, which took the catamaran under tow and made for Catterline Harbour.
Stonehaven lifeboat was launched to assist in righting the vessel and the town’s coastguard team was tasked to meet the sailor, who did not require medical attention as a result of being properly equipped for the conditions at the time.
