The parents of critically-ill Angus girl Cally Simpson say they will never give up hope despite receiving devastating news from doctors.
The four-year-old’s family were told by specialists in Barcelona that it was “improbable” that she would ever wake from her coma, following her swimming pool accident in Salou.
However, they now intend to return to Scotland with the youngster and seek a second opinion on her prognosis.
Posting on the Saving Cally Simpson Facebook page, they reported the latest heartbreaking assessment from doctors but said they were not giving up hope she would recover.
They said: “The doctors have said it’s improbable Cally will ever wake up but we are not giving up hope at all.
“There are doctors all over the world and we want a second, third and fourth opinion.
“We are bringing our baby home in the next few days and taking it from there.
“We will get her to America as there is the best neurological doctors in the world there and we’re not giving up on our baby ever.”
Her mum Kate Miller later added: “Our girl will pull through, I just know it. I will never and I mean never give up on my little twinkletoes.”
Cally and 11 family members had been staying at the Villamarina Hotel in Salou when she was rescued from the pool by a fellow holidaymaker on June 23.
She has remained in a coma in an intensive care ward at a children’s hospital since then.
Earlier this week dad Steven Simpson and mum Kate Miller reported the youngster had shown signs of improvement and managed to breathe on her own for three hours.
