One of Forfar’s most prominent shops reopened almost a year after it closed.
David Irons & Sons, which can trace its roots in Forfar to the early 19th century, has been taken over by Nickel and Dime.
The Castle Street shop, which is keeping the Irons name, was officially opened by Forfar councillor Glennis Middleton on Thursday.
Owner Raza Ahmed said: “The reaction has been very good from customers who are pleased to see the shop back in use. We have tried to keep a lot of the original features in the shop.
“We have been in Forfar for 25 years and we are attracted to the location and space that Irons provides.”
George Irons formed a partnership with his cousin to open the ironmongers and seed business at 14 East High Street, Forfar in 1840.
The partnership lasted for 10 years before it was dissolved and the business carried on by George, who died in 1872.
His son David Irons Sr continued the business, before it passed to his sons David Irons Jr and William.
