AN ANGUS nature reserve has introduced some new faces to its ranch in time for Christmas.
The Murton Farm Nature Reserve and Tearoom, just outside Forfar, has become the new home for two donkeys, an eagle owl and some tortoises, following the death of one of its longest standing residents earlier this year.
The farm’s 40-year-old donkey Pollyanna passed away in September.
However, the farm has welcomed its new guests, donkeys Ernie and Floppy and owner Judith McVicar is hoping they will settle in well.
“Our donkeys are called Ernie (3) and Floppy (2), and they are brothers,” she said.
“Our female eagle owl was brought in as a mate for our male Eric and we are currently running a competition to name her.
“The winner will win her adoption for a year.
“We also recently acquired a beautiful female buzzard and even more exciting was last week’s delivery of four baby tortoises.”
Santa Claus will also be paying a visit to the farm’s tearoom today and he will be accompanied by live music.
