Firefighters find cannabis farm in tent at Dundee man’s flat

Firefighters discovered a cannabis farm inside a tent after bursting into a flat in Dundee to tackle a blaze.

Ian Crighton was seen coming out of his flat “coughing and spluttering” after an electrical circuit box went up in flames at his block in Burnside Gardens.

They asked if they could go in to his home to check the fire had not spread and discovered a tent pitched inside containing 10 plants, with an estimated illicit value of £100.

Crighton, 27, admitted producing cannabis at his home on January 19.

Sheriff Tom Hughes imposed a community payback order with 100 hours of unpaid work.
