Food inspectors allegedly found beetles and flies on serving counters and food preparation areas of a busy Dundee fast food restaurant.
Operators of the KFCfranchise in Dundee’s High Street are facing two charges under food safety and hygiene regulations after an inspection in September last year
It is alleged that live house flies were found on the front servery counter and in the foot preparation areas, while live Dermestes beetle larvae is said to have been found on the floor under the front counter
Beetles and larva were also allegedly found in the office, under a coffee machine and on the floor under a dessert preparation area.
Scotco Eastern Limited, which runs the restaurant, is also alleged to have failed to ensure complinace with food safety regulations in that the floors were dirty with accumulated food debris and grease and areas of the kitchen were dirty.
Scotco Eastern Limited, based in Union Street, Aberdeen, faces charges under the Food Safety Regulations 1995 and the Food Hygiene (Scotland) Regulations 2006.
Fiscal depute Jim Eodonable said: “I’d ask the matter be continued without plea for three weeks.”
Sheriff Alistair Brown set a further court date in July.
