Adult male hockey players have been caught urinating next to residents’ gardens beside Dundee High School’s all-weather pitches, sometimes in full view of residents and female teams playing there.

Brent Anderson and his wife Margaret say they have caught the “disgusting” players in the act on several occasions at Dalnacraig on Abroath Road over the past few months and have even been verbally abused by one of the offenders.

Mr Anderson, 60, a security guard, said while the incidents did not involve Dundee High School pupils or FP teams, he had been in touch with rector Dr John Halliday to report the “appalling behaviour” of some of the players.

He said despite twice emailing him to report the problems more than two months ago, the incidents had continued.

Mr Anderson, whose home adjoins the playing fields on Arbroath Road, said: “It’s been happening at the side of my house, probably up to a dozen times over the past year.

“One guy was just about to do the toilet, I saw him from my window and went out and told him to stop but he just swore at me. In future I’ll not do that again, I’ll just call the police and identify the culprits to them there.

“I reported it to the school on September 20, I emailed the rector and asked him to stop the problem of people urinating within five to six yards of our property.

“It happened on Saturday daytime in broad daylight, it’s nothing to do with the kids from the school, it’s guys in their early to mid twenties, one guy was actually facing the pitches where young girls were playing hockey.

“I got an email back from the rector’s PA saying they would take action but it happened again and I emailed him again on September 27. I’ve not had a response since then.

“It’s still been happening and the last time was on Saturday November 16, although I wasn’t home the following weekend so I don’t know if it has happened again.

“I just want it to stop and for the school to tell the clubs who hire it out that it’s got to stop,” said Mr Anderson.

Dr Halliday has offered his apologies to the couple and vowed to take action to prevent any further incidents.

He said: “While it was not High School of Dundee pupils or teams which were responsible for these incidents, I would of course like to offer my apologies.

“We are looking into this matter and will be writing to all of the clubs which use the facilities at Dalnacraig to reiterate that such behaviour is completely unacceptable.”
