Dundee FC ‘overwhelmed’ by demand for tickets to Championship decider

Dundee FC says there has been “overwhelming” demand for tickets for this weekend’s Championship-deciding game against Dumbarton, with big queues outside Dens Park this morning.

Around 50 people lined the car park outside the club shop to make sure they had tickets for the big event.

Fans admitted there was an element of “panic buying” as rumours spread that tickets were selling fast.

Although the match is not all-ticket, fans can secure their place in advance by buying tickets in the lead-up to the match.

A club statement said: “Dundee Football Club has been overwhelmed with the response of our supporters, who have kept our ticket office staff extremely busy since last Saturday evening.

“We are already guaranteed to have the largest home attendance of the season by a stretch, with the South Enclosure now sold out and The Bobby Cox Stand quickly approaching capacity.

“Although the match remains pay-at-the-gate, tickets are available to buy online or from the ticket office either in person or by calling 01382 889966.”

It added: “Everyone at the club would again like to thank the fans for their incredible support over the course of the season. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Saturday.”

Fan George Meek said: “I just hope all the fans that have been to most games this season home and away get tickets.”

Another fan said: “I think that was my first ever panic buy! Can’t get to the ticket office before Friday and they’re too busy to take phone calls.”

One Dundee fan who has yet to buy his tickets said this weekend is a huge game.

He said: “I go to all the home and away games and I am desperate to get my hands on some tickets for the family but it is difficult to get away from work.

“I reckon it’ll be a real nail-biter. Dundee FC never do things easily. We thought we’d blown it two weeks ago and now we’ve got the chance to go straight back up to the Premier League.

“Hopefully we won’t blow it this time.”
