Sheriff brands man caught with drugs at T in the Park ‘stupid’

An engineer has been branded “stupid” by a sheriff after he admitted being stopped on his way into T in the Park by a police sniffer dog.
Ryan Moran, 33, never made it past the entrance after being picked out by the dog, searched and found to be carrying seven ecstasy tablets.
Moran was fined £400 and told by Sheriff Lindsay Foulis: “You are in your early thirties. This is stupid, just stupid really.”
Depute fiscal Carol Whyte told Perth Sheriff Court: “One of the drugs dogs indicated the accused might be in possession of a controlled substance and he was searched.
“Seven tablets were recovered and later found to be ecstasy with an estimated value of £70.”
Solicitor Billy Somerville, defending, said: “Apparently he was offered the drugs on his way to T in the Park and foolishly took the opportunity to purchase them.
“He was stopped on the way in and detained.”
Moran, of Findcastle Place, Dundee, was fined after he admitted having ecstasy at the festival in Balado, near Kinross, on July 13 last year.
