Emergency services rushed to Hindmarsh Avenue yesterday after a car crashed into a two-storey block of flats.
The elderly couple who were in the car were taken to hospital after their car hit the building at 1.20pm.
The car crashed through a fence and garden before hitting the property and crushing the wheelie bin.
Two ambulance crews arrived at the scene five minutes after receiving the call and checked over the 80-year-old man and 78-year-old woman before transferring them to Ninewells.
The woman driver was later found to have suffered a broken right heel bone. Her male passenger had “no significant injuries”.
No one else was hurt in the accident.
Tayside Fire and Rescue also attended with a rescue pump, an aerial rescue pump and the heavy rescue unit.
A spokeswoman for the service said: “A car left the road and went through the fence and into the garden before hitting the building.
“Crew members made the scene safe and there are no reports of cutting equipment being needed to free the passengers.”
She added: “There was minor damage to the external wall of the building. Our crews were engaged in making the scene safe.”
Officers from Tayside Police closed the road and put diversions in place.
Engineers were called to assess structural damage to the front of the building.
