A FATHER OF TWO who nearly died after being stabbed in an unprovoked attack by a Dundee 16-year-old has told how he collapsed unconscious and bleeding following the horrific assault.
Marc Ritchie’s bowel was perforated by the blade after Alec Hutchison “came out of nowhere” and stabbed him, just minutes after the teenager had attacked another man.
The 32-year-old initially thought he had been punched by the teen until Hutchison bragged: “That’s what happens when you **** with me you get stabbed.”
Mr Ritchie spent over two weeks in hospital and underwent emergency surgery following Hutchison’s attack, which a judge branded “calculating and callous”.
Hutchison was detained for four years and will be on licence for two years following his release after admitting the attacks on Mr Ritchie and Neil Butchart (30) last August.
Mr Ritchie said his life had been “totally changed” by the assault, which happened after he left the 4Js pub shortly after Mr Butchart, whom he knows from attending football matches.
He said: “I was walking down Malcolm Street and I heard a bit of a commotion and saw Neil. I walked back up to see what was happening and I hadn’t even got near Neil when this wee lad just came out of nowhere.
“I thought he had just punched me. I hadn’t even opened my mouth. I was just walking to see what was happening.
“The only reason I knew I’d been stabbed was because of what he said. I remember looking at him thinking he was younger than my son.”
Minutes before, Hutchison had assaulted Mr Butchart, who subsequently spent four days in hospital, telling him: “That will teach you for giving us dirty looks.”
