Dundee woman appears on £100,000 benefit fraud charges

A 48-year-old Dundee woman has appeared in private at the city’s sheriff court accused of fraudulently claiming more than £100,000 in benefits.
Ann Marie Getty, Castlecary Gardens, Ormiston Crescent is alleged to have received £103,877 in benefits she was not entitled to, over 12 years.
She appeared before Sheriff Derek O’Carroll on Monday on a petition alleging four charges.
Getty, who spoke in court only to confirm her name, is accused of falsely declaring she did not have a partner living with her and obtaining £52,844 in Income Support at Luffness Walk, Ormiston Crescent and Castlecary Gardens, Ormiston Crescent.
She is accused of failing to report a male who was in receipt of earnings was living with her, and she claimed £33,093 in Housing Benefit at Castlecary Gardens, Ormiston Crescent.
Getty is also accused of falsely claiming £9598 in Council Tax Benefit and £8342 in Employment and Support Allowance at Castlecary Gardens, Ormiston Crescent.
The dates of the alleged offences range from January 2000 to March last year.
Getty made no plea or declaration and was granted bail. The case was continued for further examination.
