Dundee Contemporary Arts is the one of the greatest art institutes in Britain.
That’s according to one of this year’s final four Turner Prize nominees.
Martin Boyce’s A Library of Leaves will compete in the 2011 round of the prestigious award but the installation builds largely upon an exhibition he previously undertook with DCA.
In 2009 Martin was selected to work with DCA on Scotland’s entry for the world-famous Venice Biennale.
Martin (43) said: “I had shown in group shows at DCA before and when they were invited to create the Venice Biennale (offering) the two curators Judith Winter and Graham Domke discussed a number of artists they were interested in working with.
“I was asked if I would be interested. I really like DCA and exhibited there regularly since it opened. You can work with them and you feel you can develop a good relationship with them.”
Martin said he thinks he is in with a good chance of scooping the £25,000 Turner Prize but admitted: “I’m slightly dreading it because it will be a gut-wrenching experiencing waiting for the announcement.”
