Firefighters tackle electrical blaze at Dundee nightclub

Firefighters had to smash their way through the door of a city nightclub after council workers spotted flames coming from a duct on the roofspace.
An electrical fault caused wiring to ignite at Liquid & Envy Nightclub. The fire was seen from offices across the road at around 8.45am on Thursday and staff at the council building called the emergency services.
South Ward Road was cordoned off and traffic built up around the blocked road as firefighters were lifted on an aerial platform to put out the blaze.
Firefighters and police surrounded the building and the fire was put out before it spread into the main body of the nightclub.
Crew manager George Stenson of Tayside Fire and Rescue confirmed an electrical wire had caused the fire.
He said: ”A fire was noticed on the roof and it was reported to us by council workers from their headquarters. We’ve used an aerial platform to investigate and discovered an electrical wire on the exterior of the roof was burning.”
