Tragic Dundee man John Kennedy died of multiple stab wounds, according to his death certificate.

The body of the 63-year-old Linlathen man was found by friends at around 10.30pm on April 29.

The official document, released a little over two weeks after his body was found in his Mossgiel Crescent home, states the cause of death was ”multiple stab wounds”.

Mr Kennedy was already fatally wounded when neighbours discovered him.

Emergency services attended but the popular Dundee FC fan was dead by the time they arrived.

A full-scale police inquiry was launched into how Mr Kennedy died and much of Mossgiel Crescent was cordoned off while a forensic examination took place at his home.

Mr Kennedy, a widower, was a retired jute spinner and well-known in the Linlathen community.

Michael Gerald Nolan (43), of Mossgiel Crescent, is charged with murdering Mr Kennedy at his home by striking him repeatedly on the body with a knife to his severe injury.

He made no plea or declaration when he appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court.

He was remanded in custody and was fully committed to trial.

Mr Kennedy’s funeral takes place today and mourners have been asked not to wear black in order to honour a request made by John while he was alive.

They have also been told ”football attire is acceptable”. Donations will also be accepted for Cancer Research UK.
