Online tributes paid to Rhys Alexander, who died in fall from flat in Dundee

Tributes have been paid to a child who died tragically after falling from a second-floor flat in Dundee.

Three-year-old Rhys Alexander suffered fatal head injuries after falling from a window at the family home in Denhead Crescent in the Charleston area of the city.

The exact circumstances surrounding the youngster’s fatal fall are still unknown; however, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, as is the case with all sudden deaths.

Although parents Kevin and Rosemary have sought privacy since Friday’s tragedy, the grandmother of Rhys, Barbara Bailey, took to Facebook to pay tribute to her grandson.

She said: ”To my wee angel, my beautiful grandchild who passed suddenly. You will always be remembered. Love you always Lil Man xx.”

Similar online tributes have been posted by family friends with many still stunned by young Rhys’s passing.

Ambulance crews were called to Denhead Crescent at around 2.30pm on Friday.

Despite rushing Rhys to Ninewells and the best efforts of hospital staff, the youngster succumbed to his injuries.

It is understood that after the tragedy parents Kevin and Rosemary moved to stay with relatives elsewhere in the city.

Friday’s death comes just weeks after the couple celebrated the arrival of their third child, a second daughter.

Adding his tribute to Rhys was local councillor Tom Ferguson, who said that the tragedy would affect a lot of families in the Charleston area.

”The main thing I would like people to know is that my condolences go out to the family of the child,” he said.

”It’s a close knit community up there and there are a lot of young families in Denhead.

”I’m just so sorry to hear that one of our own, who had his whole life ahead of him, has died.”
