A teacher is in trouble after allegedly writing during a class: “Sod teaching, today is about securing tickets to Queens of the Stone Age”.
Craig Cochrane has also been called before the General Teaching Council of Scotland (GTCS) over claims he called a pupil a “fanny” and another a “paedo”.
Mr Cochrane, a design and technology teacher at Dunfermline High School, is due to appear before a GTCS disciplinary panel on March 21.
Stoner rock band Queens of the Stone Age played the Glasgow Hydro on November 16 2013, their only Scottish date of a UK tour.
According to the GTCS, on November 13, Mr Cochrane posted an “inappropriate comment on Facebook whilst you were teaching a class, and in particular you did post: ‘Sod teaching, today is about securing tickets to Queens of the Stone Age on Saturday’.”
The teacher is further accused of using a computer within the classroom to “access a website for the purpose of purchasing tickets for a personal social event, whilst you were in charge of pupils, some of whom were using machinery and tools”.
Another charge states that Mr Cochrane, on 6 November 2013, used “inappropriate language when speaking to a pupil and in particular you did say, ‘oh you fanny’.”
On November 28 that year the teacher is alleged to have grabbed a pupil by the clothing, pinching his neck.
And on December 8 2014, he is charged with referring to a pupil as “(Pupil B)-o the Paedo”.
It added: “You did make an inappropriate comment to Pupil B and in particular you did state, ‘It’s not my fault you got into bother for going into a toilet with a wee boy’.”
The charge ends: “In light of the above it is alleged that your fitness to teach is impaired and you are unfit to teach as a result of breaching the General Teaching Council for Scotland’s Code of Professionalism and Conduct 2012.”
