A Kirkcaldy woman has been accused of assaulting her former cage-fighting husband after believing he was having an affair.
Melanie Lingwood, 44, of Lismore Avenue, is alleged to have attacked her estranged husband Colin while he worked as a bouncer outside McPhail’s bar in Leven.
Mrs Lingwood denied assaulting Colin by punching him on the head, repeatedly striking him on the head with a key and biting him on the body, all to his injury.
She also pleaded not guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering threats, all on October 26 2013 at McPhail’s, North Street, Leven.
At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, Sheriff Grant McCulloch heard the couple had separated at the beginning of October.
Mr Lingwood told the court his wife drove to his work where she hurled abuse at him.
He said: “I think she was accusing me of having an affair. I escorted her back to her car.
“She pulled me in the car by my jacket. She bit my arm and was jabbing me with the key.”
Mr Lingwood claimed he suffered a cut by his ear, a cut on his forehead that has left a scar and a cut under his mouth, as well as a bite mark to his arm.
The case will continue at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on July 22.
