Scottish Power has apologised to hundreds of customers in Kirkcaldy, after a series of intermittent power cuts affected parts of the town on Sunday evening.
As many as 300 properties were affected by the outages, which happened over a 45-minute period from around 8.30pm.
The town centre area, including bars and nightspots in the High Street, lost power momentarily on a number of occasions, with street lights in many parts of the KY1 and KY2 postcode areas also being knocked out.
The outages left many streets in total darkness, as well as the town’s railway station.
An investigation into the cause was launched immediately and it has been established that the fault had been caused by a succession of blown fuses at Scottish Power’s Raith Gasworks substation.
A spokesman for the company confirmed that repairs have since been made and apologised to customers for any inconvenience they may have been caused.
