A callous fraudster has swindled a Fife pensioner out of a large amount of cash.
Police labelled the crime, which happened a week ago, as “most wicked”.
The man is said to have got away with a three-figure sum from his 93-year-old victim.
Police said the incident happened on the morning of Monday, August 15. A man the force described as “an unscrupulous caller” coaxed his way into the house of the elderly man in the Davenport area of Rosyth. He claimed to have known the resident and persuaded him to part with a significant amount of money.
Investigating officer PC Lesley Duncan is now appealing to the public to help track the criminal.
Police have issued a description of a man they are particularly keen to trace. He was in his early 40s, of a slim to medium build, around 6ft and had black hair which was short but unkempt. He had a day’s growth on his face. The man was said to be wearing a yellow polo shirt and dark blue jeans and spoke with a foreign accent.
PC Duncan said: “This was a most wicked crime, so I would urge anyone who may have had a similar visitor to get in touch with the police. Any resident who noticed a suspicious male, or unfamiliar vehicle, should not hesitate to get in contact with the police.”
