An assurance has been given on the future of an Angus furniture charity battling other local organisations in a council tender process.
Forfar Resource Store has thrown its hat into the ring for a contract to supply furniture and starter packs for people in the area.
The group has found itself competing with a three-strong consortium of other groups for a contract to provide for 350 households a year.
Charity chairwoman and Angus councillor, Glennis Middleton, said she hoped the group would be successful in the tender process.
She vowed that even if the contract did not come their way there would remain a determination to continue to provide a much-needed service to vulnerable residents.
“Forfar Resource Store would like to make it known that they are part of this tender exercise,” said Mrs Middleton. “We are very hopeful of winning part of if not all of the contract.Well-established”Over many years we have become well-established across Angus and we would like to thank the very generous people across the county who have donated more than 400 tonnes of furniture to us over the course of the year.
“We would reassure them that whatever happens Forfar Resource Store will continue in existence and we will carry on with what is a huge community effort.”
Mrs Middleton added, “It’s unfortunate that this is happening, but we understand that apparently the council’s hands are tied with regard to the tender process.
“Potentially we could all lose, and potentially we could all win, but there does still seem to be confusion.
“We need people throughout Angus to know that we are continuing and we will continue to accept donations to deliver to people across the district throughout this whole process.
“If we are unfortunate enough not to win any part of the tender then we will continue to deliver a service.”
