It may still be November, but hundreds of runners got into the Christmas spirit on Saturday for the RNLI’s Reindeer Run at Glamis Castle.

Participants all wore antlers and ran in the 10k or 5k event, once or twice along the castle’s driveway and grounds.

There was also a one-kilometre Santa Saunter for accompanied children and those brave enough to compete in full Father Christmas costume.

The RNLI’s Richard Smith said the run gives people the chance to volunteer for the lifeboats without the risk of sea-sickness.

“Everyone got into the festive spirit and we’re very pleased with the total raised so far and are still counting,” he said.

Medals were handed to every runner, who also got to keep their antlers and a T-shirt.

A spokesman said: “RNLI volunteer crews are ready to put to sea 24/7, in any conditions, to go to the aid of those in trouble.

“This is your chance to take part in a fun run and help to raise money to keep our lifeboats in service.”
