Danny Wilson to reunite for Ryder Cup gig

Dundonian pop band Danny Wilson are to perform for the first time in public for 25 years at a special one-off performance of their No 3 hit Mary’s Prayer.

Brothers Gary and Kit Clark and Ged Grimes’ performance at the Ryder Cup opening gala on Sepember 24 at Glasgow’s Hydro will be their first show together as Danny Wilson since 1989.

The band had success with singles Mary’s Prayer, I Can’t Wait and the Second Summer of Love during the late 1980s before splitting up amicably in 1991.

Gary is now back living and working in Dundee after a spell in America, having had songwriting and production success with the likes of Natalie Imbruglia, Nick Carter and KD Lang and is currently in the Billboard top 40 with Kim Cesarion’s Undressed.

Kit writes and performs his solo material at concerts and festivals across the country while Ged is enjoying touring the world as bassist with Simple Minds, so the show is unlikely to herald a permanent reunion, Gary says.

Also on stage are Texas, Amy Macdonald, Twin Atlantic and Midge Ure.
