A small trawler has picked up a suspected 10ft torpedo in the Firth of Forth.
The crew of the Sea Spray, which operates out of Port Seton in East Lothian, contacted the coastguard around 8am on Wednesday and were advised to tow the device to deep water off Port Seton and then drop it on to the sea bed.
The Royal Navy were then called to deal with the torpedo and on Wednesday night a bomb disposal team detonated it underwater.
Mines are often found by fishing vessels in the Firth of Forth.
Thousands were laid during the second world war in a bid to deter German U-boats from entering Scottish waters.
