Woman told ex to ‘kill me now and get it over with’, court hears

A woman told her violent ex to “kill me now and get it over with” as he launched a brutal assault on her in her car.

Daniel McGraw faces a lengthy jail term after he admitted a vicious attack on Stephanie Walker as she drove towards his home on the outskirts of Glenrothes.

Raging McGraw lost it during an argument with Miss Walker then demanded he drive her home. Once there his temper erupted with McGraw first trying to kick out the windscreen from the passenger seat and cracking it.

He then repeatedly threatened to kill her before grabbing her throat and squeezing.

She then told him: “Just kill me now and get it over with.”

She managed to escape and got out of the car and pleaded with his father to help.

The accused was shouting at her calling her a liar, the court heard. Miss Walker was later taken to hospital where she was found to have slightly blurred vision and abrasions to her right cornea thanks to McGraw putting his fingers in her eyes.

McGraw, 23, of Lady Nina Square, Coaltown of Balgonie, pleaded guilty on indictment to charges of assault, breaching bail and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

His not guilty plea to a charge that he grabbed the steering wheel of the car as it was moving and pulled it, causing the car to collide with a kerb, was accepted by the Crown.

Sheriff James Williamson deferred sentence until next month for social work background reports and remanded McGraw in custody meantime.

He told the court: “This is frankly an appalling and sustained assault on a vulnerable complainer.”
