Dunfermline’s historic heart has been put in the spotlight for the first time in years.
A floodlighting scheme, switched on last Saturday by legendary rockers Nazareth, has illuminated several of the jewels in the crown of the heritage quarter, including the abbey, Carnegie Library and city chambers.
Fife Council contributed £145,000 towards theproject, which also takes in the Glen Gates, the main entrance at the foot of Bridge Street into Pittencrieff Park and the Andrew Carnegie statue within the glen.
It is hoped the lights will also help improve the appearance of Dunfermline by night as well as showcasing the town’s historically significant features.
