Fire-fighters in Dunfermline tonight came to the rescue of a stricken horse after its leg became trapped in a fence.
Officers from the SSPCA had attempted to coax the frightened animal back to its field, but called for assistance after attempts failed.
Crews from the town used bolt cutters to carefully extricate the horse from the fence as a veterinarian stood by.
Scottish Fire and Rescue said their firefighters had been called to Sunningdale Lane at around 6.45pm.
“Thankfully it looks like there has been a happy ending,” a spokeswoman said.
