The cast of a hit West End show made a brave Fife youngster’s dreams come true.
Five-year-old Cupar youngster Agatha King, whose passion for the musical Hairspray is helping her through cancer treatment, delivered a handwritten good luck message when she met the cast onstage at the Edinburgh Playhouse.
The youngster, who has also received a Cancer Research UK Kids and Teens award in partnership with TK Maxx, has been fighting acute lymphoblastic leukaemia for a year but likes nothing better than taking her mind off the treatment by singing along to a DVD of the 2007 movie.
Mum Karen said: “Agatha is a born performer who loves drama and musicals and Hairspray is our favourite and so we were so, so excited to come and see the show and to meet the cast.

“Agatha’s daddy, Kevin, nominated her for a Cancer Research UK Kids and Teens Award for bravery and she certainly deserves one. She’s put up with everything the doctors have thrown at her.
“She’s had to cope with needles and with losing her hair, as well as not seeing her friends because she’s so prone to infection.
“She’s given up an awful lot and been very brave to get through and always with a smile on her face and a dance whenever there is music.”
After the show, Agatha met Blue Peter legend Peter Duncan, X Factor favourite Brenda Edwards, Brookside star Claire Sweeney and Benidorm’s Tony Maudsley.
Karen said it was “scary” when she was diagnosed Karen was pregnant at the time and now the family have baby Meredith as well as son Bacchus, three.
“From here, we really hope things are going to get easier for Agatha,” she said.
She said the family wanted to support Cancer Research UK because the more people who know about childhood cancer, the better.
As well as her star-shaped trophy, Agatha also received a gift card and a certificate signed by celebrities.
