Police seeking man who approached 10-year-old girls in Rosyth street

Police are hunting a ‘bushy-haired’ man after two young girls were approached in a Fife street.

The male tried to talk to the ten-year-olds in Rosyth’s Backmarch Road earlier this week while they were standing on a pavement there.

The youngsters left the scene and headed towards Queensferry Road before telling their parents.

Police Scotland said the incident took place at around 3.30pm on Wednesday.

The man was last seen heading towards Admiralty Road.

High visibility police patrols are being stepped up in the area in the wake of the incident.

He is described as aged between 35 and 45 years old, with bushy greying hair, of average height and wearing a neck chain, dark jumper or jacket and grey trousers.

Local Community Sergeant Gordon Hood said: “We’re eager to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

“Anyone who recognises the description of the man, or saw him in the area around this time, is asked to come forward.

“Likewise, anyone with further information that may be able to assist with our enquiries is urged to get in touch.

“There will be an increase in high visibility patrols in the local area over the coming days to reassure the community, and anyone with concerns is welcome to speak to local officers, visit their nearest station or contact 101.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
