Kingseat is to get a post office again after three months without a service.
Post Office bosses have approved the business reopening in The Wee Shop in around eight weeks.
The previous branch closed in March after the retiral of the sub-postmistress and the withdrawal of the premises for use by the Post Office.
Villagers were forced to travel to Dunfermline to carry out their business.
Local councillor Alex Rowley then began talks with other businesses to see if any of them would be willing to provide a sub-post office service.
The Wee Shop’s agreement was confirmed by owner Sandy Wilding, who said it would begin after he had been through training.
The news was welcomed by Mr Rowley, who said the community council had been keen to re-establish a post office in the village.
”There were a couple of businesses interested in taking it on so this is good news,” he said.
The Wee Shop, which reopened on Henderson Street on May 30 after closing down six years ago, has also been granted a licence to sell alcohol despite the objection of Kingseat Community Association, which feared it would result in vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
Members of Fife licensing board agreed unanimously to grant the off-sales licence after receiving assurances from Mr Wilding.
A letter from the community association claimed that when the shop was open previously elderly people were intimidated by drunken youths hanging around street corners and children had been hurt by broken glass in the local parks.
Mr Wilding told the board the shop had previously been run by tenants and pledged that all staff would be well trained in the selling of alcohol and CCTV was in place.
”The village lost its local shop and post office. I opened the shop to provide a service at the request of villagers and we want to serve the village community,” he said.
