Lost property office working to make sure everything makes it home from T in the Park

Abandoned tents and camping gear are increasingly part of the T in the Park clean-up, but music fans also leave behind hundreds of other items that have not been so willingly discarded.

Phones, wallets, purses and clothes are among the 600 or so items that have been handed in to Tayside Police’s dedicated T in the Park lost and found office.

A large cuddly snake is also being held by officers in Perth in the expectation that its owner will want to reclaim it.

Last year, a large stuffed unicorn was among the items left behind.

Other items among the avalanche of recovered belongings are rucksacks, hold-alls and suitcases, as well as a steak slice which for health and safety reasons will not be reunited with its owner.

A police spokesman said, “There have been about 600-plus items gathered up at this year’s event and of those about 200 items have already been reclaimed by their owners.

“While there are still items coming on to us to deal with, the overall figure is significantly down on last year, when well over 800 items were handled by the lost and found property office.”

The temporary T in the Park lost and found office opened on Tuesday and will be in operation until Friday, August 26, at Tayside Police Divisional Headquarters in Barrack Street, Perth.

Clean-up teams began work on the Balado site before the final headliners had even left the stage.

Hundreds of event staff will be picking over the area and through the mud to remove evidence of the 85,000 festival-goers who made their way to Kinross each day.

With a clean-up likely to take weeks in the wake of the successful gathering, teams will likely be discovering mislaid property for days to come.

To be reunited with lost property call the lost and found on 01738 587343 between 9am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
