Macclesfield man admits sending lewd online messages to 13-year-old Perthshire girl

A man who urged a 13-year-old girl to send him naked pictures of herself and to “describe her sexual experiences” on an internet chat service has been spared a prison sentence.

Alexander Terry targeted the Perthshire girl between March and July 2010 from his home in Macclesfield, Cheshire.

He sent her a string of sick messages using MSN Messenger, asking her to turn on her webcam and expose her breasts, and then to send graphic pictures of herself.

Terry then sent her “explicit” messages.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard that he asked her to describe her sexual experiences before detailing his own, and also wanted her to take part in phone sex with him.

Terry, 25, pleaded guilty on indictment to a charge of using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices or behaviour towards the schoolgirl.

Sheriff Tom Hughes placed Terry on a three-year community payback order with supervision and ordered him to attend a sex offenders group work programme.

He also placed Terry on the sex offenders register for three years.

The sheriff said: “This is an unusual case.

“Normally it would attract a custodial sentence but, having heard the circumstances and read the reports, my view is that it would best serve the public interest for there to be a community payback order imposed.”
