A biker who died after a crash in Perthshire had previously escaped another collision on the same road with minor injuries.
James Lambert died at Ninewells Hospital on Friday after he was involved in an accident with two cars while riding his BMW motorbike on the A822.
In 2011 Mr Lambert was left unconscious and with a broken hand after retired minister Kenneth Cotty pulled out in front of his bike on the same stretch.
Later that year at Perth Sheriff Court the 73-year-old admitted careless driving on the A822 Muthill to Crieff Road.
Neighbours in Muthill have paid tribute to “quiet man” Mr Lambert, saying he will be greatly missed.
Nancy Gow, who lived below the bike enthusiast, said Mr Lambert often helped her out.
The 77-year-old said: “It’s a terrible thing to happen. He was a very, very kind man I’ll miss him a lot.
“He did a lot for me because I was ill. I couldn’t have had a better neighbour. He was always there for you if you needed him.
“He lived for his bikes. He had an accident a few years ago but it didn’t put him off, he just carried on as normal.”
Tommy Davidson added that despite the 2011 accident nothing would have stopped 62-year-old Mr Lambert from riding his motorbike.
“He would have been an old man before he gave up his bikes,” said the 80-year-old.
“He had a real passion for his motorbikes he had a couple of them.
“He travelled all over Scotland on that bike and was always tinkering with it. He said he’d rather go out on his bike than use his car.
“I’m shocked by his death.”
It is understood Mr Lambert had lived in his Muthill home for 20 years and had formerly served in the army, though latterly he carried out volunteer work.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened on the A822 Crieff to Braco Road, at 1.10pm on July 11.
The collision involved a black Freelander and a silver Ford Fiesta, both travelling southbound, and Mr Lambert’s black BMW motorcycle, which was travelling northbound.
