Police are searching for a man after a young teenage girl was approached by a stranger in Inchture.

The incident happened at around 4:30pm on Tuesday in the Moncur Road area, a short distance from the Inchture Parish Church.

Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace the man.

He is described as being white, in his late 30s, approximately 6ft average build, with a bald head and light stubble on his face and chin.

He was wearing a black short sleeved round neck t-shirt, sandy coloured chinos and a work utility belt around his waist. He spoke with a local accent.

The man talked to the girl before getting in a van that parked at the corner of the junction with Main Street.

The van is described as being a white transit van with metal roof racks.

Sgt Kevin Johnstone said: “We would like to trace the driver of this van, so that we can establish the circumstances of this conversation and rule out anything untoward.

“We are appealing for him, or anyone with any information, to get in touch.

“Our enquiries have established that there were a number of people nearby at the village shop and at the Inchture Primary playground.

“If you were in the area at the time and have information which may assist our enquiries we would ask that you contact us on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.”
