The official opening of a new visitor centre has marked the Cairngorms National Park’s 10th anniversary.
The UK’s largest national park includes large parts of Perthshire, Aberdeenshire and the Highlands, and boasts five of Scotland’s six highest mountains.
It attracts more than one-and-a-half million visitors each year and there are high hopes the new centre will lead to a further rise in tourism.
Local MSP and Finance Secretary John Swinney visited Blair Atholl, where he welcomed the opening of the new information and education hub, which includes the Atholl Museum of Country Life.
“This investment here in Blair Atholl is significant and has only been made possible by the commitment and funding of multiple agencies working in partnership for the development of the excellent finished product which we see before us,” Mr Swinney said.
“I welcome that this facility will increase visitor numbers and the range of people who will now come and experience our fabulous natural environment.
“That can only benefit local businesses and communities.”
