Perthshire outdoor actitivies company Nae Limits has unveiled proposals for a major visitor attraction near Pitlochry.
A new cafe, which launches this weekend, will form the first phase of a much wider development plan for the area, said project leaders at the Ballinluig-based firm.
Nae Limits, which has been operating in Perthshire for more than 16 years, will open its new outlet Rivers Meet on Saturday at the site of the Allium Garden Centre, which closed its doors at the weekend.
Managing director John Mason-Strang said: “It’s the first stage of our plan to create Scotland’s premier outdoor activity centre.
“Financially, it’s our biggest single investment to date and will see us increasing our workforce by three people initially, but that will likely grow as the business does.”
He added: “The cafe is a central part of our plans. Over the next few months we’ll be adding an outdoor cooking experience, a forest/wilderness school and a range of on-site activities in and around the cafe.”
A planning application for the 16,300 sq ft activities centre was approved in March. There were no objections from locals.
A report by council planner John Williamson said the bid would allow Nae Limits to move from a nearby industrial estate because its footfall had increased in recent years.
He added: “The economic impact of the proposal is likely to be significant as it allows an existing, well-established business to expand into a larger site.”
