One of the country’s main transport bodies has stressed measures have been taken to address safety concerns at the Broxden roundabout on the outskirts of Perth.
It is one of the busiest junctions in the country, with around 28,000 vehicles using it per day, but it has seen 19 people injured between 2012 and 2014.
Councillor Willie Wilson wrote to Transport Scotland regarding the number of accidents and stated he was “delighted” with the response from the organisation.
“There is some reassurance that the safety measures that have previously been taken appear to have led to a reduction in the number of accidents at this location,” he said.
“Broxden, however, still features as a hotspot in terms of roundabout accidents and I can assure members of the public that I will be keeping this matter under close review.”
He added: “I appreciate the detailed response that Transport Scotland have taken the trouble to provide and I hope the improvements that have been carried will continue to be effective.”
In a letter to Mr Wilson, Transport Scotland stressed road safety measures took place in 2012, and that average speed cameras were installed on the A9 in October 2014.
The letter states: “It is considered that these measures have had a positive impact at Broxden roundabout and its approaches.”
