105mph driver was caught at wheel minutes after being given ban

A man drove from a Perth car park just minutes after being disqualified for speeding.

Scott Harber, 24, of Beaufront Terrace, Jarrow, Tyne and Wear, was fined £210 and banned from driving for three months at the Justice of the Peace Court on Thursday, but was then caught by police in Canal Street, Perth.

Solicitor Mark Alder, defending, said that Harber’s “intention” was to move his car to an overnight car park and then have a friend drive it to England.

Depute fiscal Lisa Marshall told the court that Harber drove off from a short-stay car park at around 11am, just after he had been banned.

“Police saw the accused turn from Canal Street into Princes Street and immediately stopped him,” she said.

“Harber admitted he was disqualified.”

Mr Alder said Harber was “aware” he should not drive but “took a chance”.

“He does travel a lot in the UK and is concerned he could lose his job if he is disqualified from driving.”

Harber admitted that on January 30 in Canal Street and Princes Street, Perth, he drove while disqualified and without insurance.

He was fined a further £500 and banned for 12 months.

At the Justice of the Peace Court, he had admitted that he drove at 105.4mph on the M90 Perth to Inverkeithing motorway at Glenfarg on September 18.
