A festive shoplifter was caught red-handed after touring a supermarket stealing his Christmas dinner.
William McPhee, 48, stole a turkey crown, a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates and a box of mince pies during Christmas week.
McPhee, High Street, Kinross, admitted stealing the items from Sainsbury’s in Kinross on December 20 last year. He also admitted stealing a bottle of alcohol from the Co-op on February 13.
Solicitor Paul Ralph, defending, told Perth Sheriff Court: “It seems that he had decided to go and help himself to Christmas dinner. Everything but the Brussels sprouts.”
McPhee also admitted driving carelessly while under the influence of alcohol on the M90 motorway, near Milnathort, on July 27.
At Perth Sheriff Court, McPhee was given a three-year driving ban, ordered to carry out 250 hours’ unpaid work and was also ordered to attend a drink-drive rehabilitation programme.
