Davina Heggie has died at Ferry House Residential Home in Broughty Ferry at the age of 103.
Born in Broughty Ferry, she lived at Links Cottages, off Castle Street, and attended Eastern Primary, but did not go to secondary school as her mother was bringing up eight children.
She went to work in the jute industry as a weaver a job she detested because of the noise in the mill. She married husband Ernie at St Aidan’s Church when she was 25, the couple having met in a fish and chip shop.
By this time Mrs Heggie was working at Goodfellow & Steven, where she worked in Broughty Ferry and Monifieth and remained until she retired.
However, during the second world war, she worked in the foundry repairing tents, which were then sent back to the forces.
The couple lived in Ashludie Terrace, Monifieth, until Mr Heggie died in 1956.
Not long after that, Mrs Heggie moved to Forthill Drive where she lived until 2006 when she moved to Ferry House Residential Home in Gray Street.
Mrs Heggie was a keen knitter and had a passion for reading.
