Queens’ Park v Montrose: Gable Endies looking to climb above Spiders
ByIan Roache
Montrose have the incentive of jumping ahead of their opponents Queen’s Park with a win over the Spiders at Airdrie.
The Gable Endies hope to end a hectic week, which has seen them lose in extra-time to Angus rivals Arbroath and then have to trek all the way to Berwick in midweek, with a morale-boosting win.
Manager George Shields, who will welcome back Stevie Robb and Craig Bell but will be without the injured Alan Campbell (knee), is pleased with his team’s progress this season.
He said: “We are where we wanted to be at this stage. It is pleasing to be able to say we are on track.
“We now have a big incentive to beat Queen’s Park because we know we will move up at least a place in the table if we do so.
“We produced one of our worst performances of the season down at Berwick but the fact we came back in jinjury time to make it 2-2 meant that one felt like a win.
“I think tiredness showed in the players in midweek but they will be be fit and ready to face Queen’s Park.”
