Ryan Scully says “unfinished business” brought him back to East End Park after signing on for another crack at promotion with Dunfermline.
The goalkeeper played 46 times for the Pars last term, claiming 10 clean sheets during an impressive campaign.
However, the season ended in heartache for the 21-year-old, with Dunfermline succumbing to a 4-1 aggregate defeat in the play-off final against Cowdenbeath.
Scully is determined to go one better this season.
He said: “I don’t think I left my house for a week after that. I was locked in a dark room, it was a hard one to take.
“I don’t think we saw it coming at all. Cowdenbeath were good on the day, with the two strikers up front making a big difference.
“We have unfinished business with not getting promoted last season. This year we are the favourites and hopefully we can do the business. I was always going to be going back out on loan and Dunfermline was my first option.”
Despite being allowed out on loan for a second consecutive campaign, Scully remains highly regarded at parent club Partick Thistle.
That was underlined when the Premiership outfit handed him a new two-year contract in the close season.
However, with little chance to dislodge Scott Fox and Paul Gallacher in the coming months, Scully is only too happy to continue his development at Dunfermline.
He said: “Thistle gave me a two-year contract so it gives me a confidence that they see me as one for the future.”
