Former Raith Rovers and Dundee sriker Nacho Novo says he is still keen to find a club in Scotland but admits he has given up all hope of a return to Ibrox.

The forward is a free agent after leaving Huesca in his native Spain in the summer.

Novo had spoken openly about his desire to rejoin Rangers in the Scottish League One this term but, after a spell training with his old club, no offer was forthcoming from boss Ally McCoist.

Novo, who also trained with Kilmarnock recently, wants to remain in Scotland but fears he could be forced to look elsewhere in a bid to continue his playing career.

He said: “When I came back, I was training at Rangers to keep myself fit. Then I got an invitation from Kilmarnock to go and train with them. The offers are more from abroad than over here.

“I just have to keep myself fit and not get depressed, although I actually feel depressed because I feel I can give a lot and I miss playing.

“I can definitely still do it. I’m quite positive about myself and I will always be honest. If I say I can play, I can play.

“Finding a team in Scotland is the easiest way for me because my family are from here. It would be nice to be here and it would be the easiest option for me.

Novo was at Hampden to make the draw for the third round of the William Hill Scottish Cup, which saw Rangers paired with Airdrie.

And the forward was happy to be back at the scene of his winning goal in the 2009 final.

He said: “That was one of my favourite goals. It was special. When we played Falkirk, it was very nice and I have good memories.”
