Arbroath manager Paul Sheerin has described the re-signing of influential midfielder Steven Doris as “massive” for their hopes of a successful season in the second division.
The former St Johnstone man was a key part of the Gayfield club’s promotion-winning squad and has agreed a 12-month deal.
Sheerin said, “Steven was a great foil for Gavin Swankie last season.
“To score 17 goals at any level is a great achievement, especially when you take into account he missed a chunk of the season through injury.
“Keeping him at the club is massive for us. It’s great news.”
Meanwhile, talks with fellow midfielder Josh Falkingham are “moving forward”, Sheerin reported.
He described himself as “pretty hopeful” that he may also decide to stay with Arbroath for another campaign.
Gavin Swankie has yet to sit down with the Ross County management to discuss a possible switch to the Highlands, and Sheerin will wait to hear if that move pans out before he has further discussions with the third division player of the season.
