Dundee manager Barry Smith has been encouraged by the determination of his players to get it right against Aberdeen.
The Dark Blues travel to Pittodrie on Friday night to face the Dons on the back of a bitterly disappointing display and result against Ross County last Friday.
The defeat to the Staggies left them 18 points adrift of the Highlanders, while St Mirren’s draw against Aberdeen the following day moved the second-bottom Buddies 15 clear of Smith’s side.
Despite that unenviable position at the foot of the table, the Dens boss has been heartened by his squad’s desire to put on an improved show in their Friday night fixture.
“It has not been a case of feeling sorry for ourselves,” said Smith. “It is about having a game against Aberdeen that we are all looking forward to.
“I always get a good reaction from the players that’s never been a problem. They have a good attitude and I have never been able to fault the players in that regard.
“While they are not happy with the result and the performance, their attitude in training is that they want to do better. There is a determination to put it right.”
