Forfar relieved on-loan defender Euan Spark has escaped serious injury

Forfar have received a boost with the news that the injury sustained by Euan Spark in Saturday’s game with Ayr is not as bad as first feared.

The young defender was rushed to Dundee’s Ninewells Hospital for an X-ray, with fears that he may have suffered a season-ending chipped bone in his shoulder.

However, it has now been confirmed that the on-loan Dundee United player has severe bruising and he may be fit to play against Stenhousemuir this weekend.

Station Park boss Gary Bollan could certainly do with having Spark available with Bryan Hodge who had to come off at half-time against Ayr rated doubtful for the Ochilview clash, while Derek Young, Michael Dunlop and Martyn Fotheringham are also struggling through injury.

Bollan is trying to bolster his squad with former Dundee United midfielder Scott Smith who played as a trialist on Saturday with the manager hoping to persuade the player to sign until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, if they can get sufficient numbers, Forfar are willing to provide subsidised coach travel for supporters to this Saturday’s crunch League One fixture against Stenhousmeuir.

The cost for a seat on the coach to Ochilview will be only £5.

The coach will leave the Myre Car Park at 12.30pm, returning to Forfar straight after the final whistle.

Seats can be booked no later than Thursday by calling 07871165689 or by emailing david.mcgregor@forfarathletic.co.uk
