Brechin boss Darren Dods looking for his side to upset the odds at East End Park

Brechin boss Darren Dods is looking for his side to continue their remarkable recent run of form this afternoon and make themselves potential title-party poopers against Dunfermline.

Much of the talk in the build-up to this game has centred on the fact that if the Pars beat Brechin and Cowdenbeath defeat Peterhead, then Allan Johnston’s side will be crowned champions.

One prominent bookmaker is so sure City will not rain on Dunfermline’s possible parade, they are offering odds of greater than 10/1 to anyone willing to wager that Brechin can come away with all three points.

While Glebe gaffer Darren Dods was not willing to stake a claim that Brechin would win, he believes that having now triumphed in their last four games, including a comeback win last week against Albion Rovers, his side will have a chance.

He said: “Last week was the first time this season we have lost a goal and have fought back to win a game.

“I think that shows the spirit and character we have in the side now.

“The lads’ confidence is also high considering the fine run we are on.

“A few weeks ago, people might have written us off and decided that we were down as we were well behind the teams ahead of us.

“Now we have leapfrogged Cowdenbeath, we are level on points with Forfar and we are only three behind Stenhousemuir in seventh.

“So there are now four teams well and truly in the mix which is some turnaround for ourselves.

“We know we have to keep this run going and we could not ask for a more difficult game this Saturday than against Dunfermline at East End Park.

“There will no doubt be a big turn-out from their fans and something of a party atmosphere but if we can play the way we have been recently, then we could upset the odds.”

On-loan Pars player Lewis Spence cannot feature against his parent club while Darren McCormack and David Weatherston are rated no better than 50/50 but Craig Johnston returns from injury.
