Morton v Montrose: Stuart Garden optimistic going into cup tie
ByThe Courier Reporter
Montrose manager Stuart Garden has good reason to believe his players can rise to the challenge of beating Championship opposition in the second round of the Scottish Communities League Cup.
The Gable Endies travel to Greenock to face Morton, who are among the favourites for promotion to the Premiership this season.
However, drawing with Rangers twice last term, and pulling off a cup upset gives Garden grounds for optimism.
“The boys took a lot of confidence from the Rangers games,” Garden said.
“And we also played Cowdenbeath in the cup, and beat them. We could quite easily have won all our games this season, but we’re not getting the breaks just now.
“On Saturday we hit the post, the bar, and their keeper had some great saves. Maybe we’ll start to get those breaks at Morton.”
Graham Webster should be available after picking up a knock on Saturday but Paul Lawson is suspended.
