Golf fans at Blairgowrie had a star in their midst as former Open champion and recent European Tour winner Paul Lawrie teed off.
Fresh from his first-place finish in the Andalucian Open, he partnered Blairgowrie Golf Club professional Charles Dernie against two of their top golfers George Brass, runner-up in the club championship, and the Perth and Kinross County Matchplay champion Stuart Graham.
It was the second time that Paul and Charles have teamed up, as they used to work together at Banchory Golf Club.
The match took place over the Rosemount Course and was watched by members and guests, family and friends.
Blairgowrie managing secretary Douglas Cleeton said, “It is a real honour to have a player of Paul’s calibre play at the club.
“We are very grateful that Paul, who continues to perform at the highest level and who has many commitments to his golf foundation, has taken the time to play here.”
He added, “It’s not that often that members of a golf club get to see a top-class professional in an informal match but this was a golden opportunity to see how the game should be played.”
