A match that threatened to be a tight affair in the early stages ultimately proved to be a comfortable afternoon for Dundee HSFP against Peebles.
The 40-7 win made it five out of five at home for the Mayfield club.
It was 13-7 to the hosts at half-time but the visitors didn’t trouble the scoreboard after the break as Dundee took a stranglehold on the encounter.
They ran in six tries in total two from Bryce Hosie, and one each from Danny Levinson, Mike Brown, Tim McKavanagh and Gavin Robertson.
Kiwi Hosie was successful with two penalties and two conversions.
High head coach Colin Robertson said it was High’s best performance of the season, despite having key men like Andy Dymock, Richie McIver and Steve Longwell missing.
“We played with width and were exciting to watch,” he said.
“All the young players who came in did well and there was a great pace about our game.
“That was our fifth consecutive home win, and it’s the first time the club has managed that in a few seasons so it’s very encouraging.
“The organisation we worked so hard on during the week really paid off in both our attacking game and in defence.”
The result leaves Dundee in fifth place in the RBS National League still 15 points adrift of runaway leaders Boroughmuir.
They can leapfrog at least one team by beating third-placed Selkirk in the Borders on Saturday.
